Raina Emerson is an Eagle Scout, military veteran, and a big thrill seeker.
Born in New Jersey, but raised in Marion, Iowa, she is the DMACC Boone Campus Public Safety Officer. Before coming to work at DMACC, Raina served in the Air National Guard for six years, followed by a short job replacing windshields at Safelite for two years before she found her home at DMACC Boone Campus.
“Ever since joining the military, I only had a vague idea that I wanted to ‘help people,’ whatever that meant,” she said. Her current role allows her to protect and provide an inclusive community to others, a mission she takes seriously every day. Whether she’s on paperwork duty or patrolling the campus, her goal is to ensure everyone feels safe and supported.
Affectionately nicknamed “Stingray” by students, Raina enjoys connecting with the DMACC community.
“The people,” she said, “I love being able to interact with all the students and staff every day. To see you all grow and graduate… it’s so rewarding.”
A huge sci-fi fan, Raina spends her off days diving into Dungeons & Dragons and enjoying everything from Star Wars to Mass Effect. Her advice for students?
“DMACC offers so many services and resources, don’t be afraid to use them.” Whether you need help with a classroom location or accessing resources, she’s there to help.
Raina said she is always ready to help make DMACC a welcoming place for all.
