The Bear’s men’s golf team has completed two meets so far, placing third and second respectively. The Bears placed third in the Iowa Central Fall Kickoff. Overall, the Bears would shoot 301 as a team scoring at 17+. They were led by Sam Vertanen who shot 2+ on the day. Ethan Gills and Joe Dean would lead the Bears to a second place finish in their second meet of the year at the NIACC invitational. DMACC’s overall stroke count totaled at 309, nine strokes behind Iowa Central Community College.

The DMACC women’s golf team got off to a hot start in their first meet of the season. The Bears tied Iowa Lakes CC for first place at the Iowa Central Fall kickoff. Ashley Michel and Krista Swenson led the Bears each tying for first place at 86 total strokes. The girls would then go on to finish fourth in their second meet at the NIACC invitational. Krista Swenson finished with the best score for the Bears, shooting an 84 on the day and placing third overall.

The fall baseball and softball season begin in the month of September. The Bears baseball team began their season at home versus Southwestern. No stats or results have been posted as of now, but the men’s fall schedule can be found in the athletics section of the DMACC website. The Bears softball team will begin its fall conquest on September 14 — at home — versus Marshalltown Community College. The contest will begin at 3 p.m.

The men’s cross country team opened their season on September 3, at the Bill Buxton invitational in Indianola. The Bears would only enter three runners, and be unable to compete for a team championship. DMACC’s freshman trio of Alex Dvorak, Devon Keuning, and Chaz Warson would finish 30th, 38th, 44th, respectively. Freshman Natalie Segura led the women’s cross country team on their own side of the Bill Buxton invitational. Segura would finish 12th place overall to lead the Bears to a fourth place finish. Both the men’s and women’s teams will compete on Saturday, September 11 at the Les Duke Invitational in Grinnell.

The DMACC girl’s volleyball team finished 7th nationally in the rankings last year. The girls are starting the new season out well with a 5-3 record overall. They are undefeated at home so far this year, as well as in neutral site games. The Bears have had a tough season on the road so far, but look to add two to the win column on Friday, September 10. Rochester, Minnesota, will be the site of the three team tournament featuring the DMACC Bears, the Rock Valley Golden Eagles, and the Rochester Yellow Jackets. The Bears will face Rock Valley in the first match at 5 p.m. with the second match against the Yellow Jackets following at 7 p.m.
