Whether one is a DMACC student or someone living in the city of Boone, stop by the Boone DMACC Campus Cafe to meet with friends, enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee or  try menu items like a Chickle,

What IS a Chickle? It is an creation by Alice Erb, cook and campus cafe manager,

“A Chickle is shredded colby jack cheese that I put on the grill to let melt, and then I put pickles on it and fold it over,” said Erb. “It’s easy, and it’s fun!”

However, the Chickle is not the only star of the show at the Boone DMACC Cafe; it is just one of the many items that rotate through the cafe specials like biscuits and gravy, French Toast and omelets.  The cafe serves breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday.

“Breakfast cuts off at 10:30, but if you want two eggs and toast at 12:30, I’ll cook it for you,” Alice said. “It’s a cafe, I am going to be here for my customers.”

Alice said cafe customers have options.

“We sell a sack lunch for five bucks,” she said. “It has a sandwich, a cookie, protein balls, a cheese stick, and chips in it if you’re on the go and need something to eat real fast.”

Something unique about the cafe is that it isn’t just meant for the DMACC students, it is open to the public.

“We’re starting to get the word out there.” she said. “ We’ve done some Facebook feeds and stuff, so hopefully it goes far.”

A way to meet more people within the community is to take advantage of the cafe’s invitation to socialize. There are a few groups like Boone’s retired teachers who meet weekly on campus and share coffee and conversation .

The cafe is open this semester from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with hours in the summer semester from 7:30-1.
