On 2nd and goal from the 3 yard-line history was made by James White and the New England Patriots for one of the “Greatest Superbowl Comebacks of All-Time” according to the “milehighreport”. However the play shouldn’t have counted for 3 reasons.
Reason #1 would be the NFL passed a rule 2 years ago to review all scoring plays to confirm the score. For whatever reason after the play was deemed a touchdown, without no booth review afterwards.
Reason #2 would be the fact that James White’s knee was down a few feet before the ball crossed the goal-line. There is video evidence surfing the web where you can clearly see he was down before. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDuWrUzSjns
Reason #3 would be that it would now be 3rd down for the patriots offense with 1 stop for the Atlanta defense then you force a field goal on New England. Giving the league’s most explosive offenses the ball with a field goal tying the game and a touchdown leading we could be talking about something different. Tune in Next Time on “Brandon’s Take”.
