The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) cross country team came away with a fourth-place finish in the Viking Invitational Sept. 15 at Pleasant Hill.
Simpson College took the team championship with 20 points and DMACC scored 91 points in finishing fourth. Sara Hendrickson of the Grand View Alumni won the individual championship with a time of 20 minutes, 46 seconds on the 5K (3.1-mile) course.
DMACC was led by sophomore Molly Eyerly of Winterset, who toured the course in 23:54, giving her an eighth-place finish.
Other DMACC results included a 16th-place finish by sophomore Chasity Moody of Maxwell. Sophomore Jada Wierck of West Des Moines was 19th and freshmen Anna Jones of Maxwell and Cassie Anderson of Knoxville were 23rd and 25th respectively. Moody crossed the finish line with a time of 25:54, Wierck turned in a time of 27:12, Jones finished with a time of 29:12 and Anderson’s time was 38:54.
The DMACC cross country team will run in the Fighting Bee Invitational Oct. 7 at Bettendorf.
