Black Hawk-College-Moline (BHCM) outscored the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men’s basketball team 49-30 in the second half to come away with a 74-59 decision over the Bears December 3 inside the DMACC gymnasium.

Freshman Malcolm Ruff of Chicago, Ill., led DMACC with 16 points and sophomore Nibra White of Evanston, Ill., and freshman Wali Parks of Iowa City reached double figures with 10 points apiece.

DMACC, which led 29-25 at halftime, fell to 6-4 for the season.

DMACC shot just 31 percent, connecting on 19 of 62 field goal attempts, including 2-of-18 from three-point range. The Bears were 19-of-26 from the free throw line.

Ruff grabbed nine rebounds and sophomore Brendan Lipovsky of Fairfield, Neb., and freshman Nysir Marshburn of Philadelphia, Penn., had eight apiece as DMACC came away with a 43-41 advantage on the boards. White and Marshburn had two assists apiece in the loss and White led the Bears in steals with three.

The DMACC men’s basketball team will host the Wartburg College junior varsity on Dec. 10. Game time is 3 p.m. inside the DMACC gymnasium.
