Dr. Drew Nelson is the new Provost of the Boone DMACC. He Started in Aug 2016. He comes from Texas where he was a college Administrator. Nelson is originally from Minnesota. He chose to come to the Boone DMACC because he wanted to come back to the Midwest.

Before arriving in Iowa he was Dean of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Alvin Community College in Houston since 2007.

He also was an Associate Vice president of General education and English Professor at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas. Nelson has earned a B.A. from Macalester College in English History in 1990 and from Mankato State University an M.A. in English in 1993 and his PH.D. in English from Texas A & M University in 1996.

Nelson also enjoys fishing for bull reds and sharks. From talking with Nelson, he said he likes to be called Drew. He has a few goals to improve to Boone DMACC: increase enrollment for male students, fill the available slots for the nursing program, trying to start continuing education classes here at the Boone DMACC.
