A way station is coming to the DMACC Boone Campus! The Social Justice Club is sponsoring and building a way station for the campus this summer. A way station is a stopping point for animals and insects while they migrate during the seasons. This particular way station is designed for monarch butterflies. There will be milkweed plants and a variety of Blue Flax, Crimson Clover, Annual Candytuft, and many more species. Local professor Amy Prochaska said this about the flowers, “The native flowers are important to many species who need specific nectar’s that are in flowers indigenous to our region”. The way station will be on the west side of the Boone DMACC Campus next to the lounging area, allowing for student to go and sit and observe the way station.
