The DMACC Men’s Golf Team has been busy the last couple of weeks. On Sep. 18, they dominated the fairways in Mason City to secure a first place finish at the NIACC Invitational.

A team score of 5-under-par 283 ties their own best team score, and according to head coach Chris Seaboch, “5-under-par 283 would have beaten [the old record] by at least a few strokes.”

The Bears were led by co-medalists, Tyler Saansgard and Dylan Sporrer, who each shot 4-under-par 68. Seaboch said that a 4-under-par 68 ties the all-time DMACC best for an 18-hole round.

Other contributing scores came from Dylan Ellis (+1), Joe Dean (+2), Logan Barnes (+4), Trevor Heinen (+6), and Ryan Nichols (+12).

Four days later, the team was competing again, this time at the Indian Hills Invitational.

The competition level increased, and the number of holes doubled, but the Bears were not intimidated. The team was able to notch a sixth place finish in an invite that included multiple NJCAA D1 programs.

DMACC head coach Chris Seaboch had some comments after the day concluded.

“We started making easy mistakes, such as wrong club selection, or losing focus on the greens,” Seaboch said.  “But many of our players have not had to walk 36 holes on a course like the Preserve during a competition round.  And to get to Nationals next spring, all teams will play 36 holes one day, and 18 the next.  So for us to go through that today really lets us know of some things we can improve on.  And I have no doubt we will.”

The Individual scores were Dylan Ellis (+1), Joe Dean (+6), Dylan Sporrer (+7), Tyler Heinen (+10), Jack West (+10), and Tyler Sansgaard (+13).
