DMACC athletics had arguably their greatest month in school history in terms of across-the-board success in the month of February. The shortened month had no effect on several of DMACC’s athletic programs ability to find success.
At one point during the month of February every single participating sport at DMACC was ranked nationally. That is not something that is easily attainable is a testament of the talent that competes in Iowa. These were the programs at DMACC rankings in the ICCAC and NJCAA by the end of the February.
Men’s Basketball #3 ICCAC / #1 NJCAA
Women’s Volleyball #2 ICCAC / #9 NJCAA
Women’s Softball #6 ICCAC / #10 NJCAA
Women’s Basketball #3 ICCAC / #11 NJCAA
Men’s Baseball #1 ICCAC
It takes a team effort to get these results, that in turn produce these national rankings. DMACC has been fortunate to have such outstanding coaching staffs at each one of these programs. Brett Putz is a first year coach of the Men’s Basketball team, Nic Mishler is leading the Baseball program after being hired at the start of last season. Bob Ligouri is coming off of a Coach of the Year award last season with the Softball program. To no one’s surprise, Steve Krafcisin continues to head the Women’s Basketball team, and Patty Harrison continues to produce victories from her Volleyball squad.
It’s amazing to see such a wealth of success at these programs at DMACC which can be attributed to great coaching and team play. However there have been some individual standouts during the month of February.
