The DMACC Men’s basketball team travels to Estherville, Iowa, on Wednesday to face the Iowa Lakes Lakers. The Bears are coming off an impressive win against Iowa Western winning 80-68 and are on a roll right now, winning 6 straight. That combined with a record of 11-2 has pushed them to the top spot in the NJCAA rankings. Ryan Schmitt will look to keep the momentum going after dropping a team high 18 points in the win against Iowa Western while shooting 6/13 from the field and a perfect 6/6 from the free throw line.
The Lakers have also had an impressive season so far. Having a record of 10-4 they also sit in the top ten of the NJCAA rankings at number six. The Lakers are coming off a big 92-77 loss to the Kirkwood Eagles, ending a eight-game winning streak. Shooting an abysmal 37% from the field is never a good recipe for a win.
DMACC looks to repeat the same result as the last time these two teams met they took the game with a score of 71-62. The Bears had four players in double figures led by sophomore guard Willie Guy, with 18. Defense was also a huge factor in the last matchup between these teams for the Bears as they held Lakers top scorer, Xzavier Jones, to a modest seven points.
DMACC looks to continue their winning streak, while Iowa Lakes tries to get back into the win column.
