DMACC golfers have recently resumed play after waiting for the winter weather to halt. Athletes battled tough conditions so far in the early spring season. Both men’s and women’s teams competed in two meets so far in the young season. The women’s team recently canceled a meet due to inclement weather.

The women’s golf team completed two two-day tournaments in the spring season. The Ron Streck Invitational was the first competition for the women’s team at the Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma. DMACC finished 4th place overall in the 36-hole competition. They were led by Ashley Michel who placed 4th in the individual rankings.

The Bears’ next competition was the Jimmy Spring Swing at the Ames Golf and Country Club. DMACC matched their 4th place finish from two weeks prior with another 4th place finish. Freshman Ashley Michel led the Bears for the second competition in a row, tying for 2nd place in individual rankings. After a cancellation a week later on April 6, the Bears will head to the Mason City Country Club for the NIACC Invite on Monday, April 18, for their third competition of the year.

DMACC Men’s golf competed in The Ron Streck Invitational in Tulsa, alongside the women’s team. The Bears tied for 2nd place in the two-day tournament, shooting a 619 36-hole score. They finished 14 strokes behind the team championship winner Columbia College. Tyler Sansgaard tied in the medalist position for the individual rankings, shooting a 146 in the two-day competition.

The Bears recently completed their second competition on Monday, April 11, in Ames. The DMACC Invitational was at the Ames Golf and Country Club. DMACC finished with a 4th place spot in their hosted competition. The Bears finished 21 strokes behind the team championship winner Kirkwood Community College. Tyler Sansgaard led the Bears in the individual rankings with a tie for 5th place. Waterloo, Iowa, will be the location for the Bears’ third competition of the season on April 15 and 16 for the Battle of Waterloo. A quick turnaround will feature the Bears in the NIACC Invite on April 18 at the Mason City Country Club.
