Local voting is just around the corner. It is our civic duty to participate in the voting process. Some of the elections you would be voting for are for the school board, city council, and mayor. Voting takes place on November 4th in your respective precinct, and voting locations are based on your residence.

There is much debate that local voting is much more impactful or important than any other voting, as it directly impacts you, your family, and anyone else you care about. Voting gives us, the people, the power to make great change in our communities during local elections. Have your voices be heard!

You can still register to vote on Election Day!

How to Register Now:

Register at your county auditor’s office, or you can register and vote at your polling place on Election Day if you missed the pre-registration deadline (October 20th). You will need a valid photo ID and proof of residence (a water bill would be an example).

To register in Iowa, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be a resident of Iowa.
  • Be at least 17 years old to pre-register and 18 years old to vote in a general election. You may vote in a primary election if you will be 18 by the time of the general election.
  • Not have been convicted of a felony (unless your voting rights have been restored).
  • Not be judged mentally incompetent by a court.
  • Not claim the right to vote in any other place.
