Attention Boone DMACC students and staff: LifeServe Blood Center is coming to the Boone DMACC campus on Wednesday, November 29th to host a mobile blood drive. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Council, and they are encouraging everyone to sign up for an appointment to donate.
The blood drive will start at 8:00am and end at 10:30am. By donating blood, you are helping to save the lives of people nationally who need it. On the website, blood types A+, AB-, AB+, B-, B+, A-, and O+ are listed as general needs and states that they have a 4-5 day supply of all, but still need more people to donate those types. However, they are in desperate need of O- type blood, where they only have a 2-3 day supply. With whatever blood type you may have, you are encouraged to donate and help out people in need. O- type blood is currently listed as an urgent need, but will quickly turn into a critical need if the LifeServe Blood Center doesn’t receive the supply they hope for.
Don’t worry, you haven’t missed the deadline! There is still time to sign up for an appointment! If you are a DMACC student or staff member, there was an email sent to you discussing information and a link to the website where you can click the “Donate Now” button to start the process of donating. If you are not a student or staff member but would still like to donate, the link to the LifeServe website is here: http://www.lifeservebloodcenter.org. However, before you sign up, make sure to read the information under the “Donor Eligibility” tab to make sure you are fully qualified to donate.
The LifeServe Blood Center’s website is filled to the brim with information on donations and other things you may want to know. You can catch up on the latest blood center news, read about different types of donations, and even read recipient testimonials from real life people whose lives were saved with blood donations to LifeServe. One of the many helpful parts about LifeServe are its volunteer opportunities. The blood center greatly accepts help from those who are willing to donate their time, and by volunteering you are attributing to LifeServe’s mission to save lives.
Again, there is still time to sign up! Make sure to stop by LifeServe Blood Center’s website to register for an appointment. Your donation will help save the life of a person in need and will continue to benefit them for the rest of their lives: it’s the gift that keeps on giving.
