The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) has named Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) softball player Bre Hunter the ICCAC Division II Softball Player of the Week for the week of April 10 to 16.

Hunter, a freshman from Boone, is the fifth DMACC softball player to be honored by the conference this season. Sophomore Kerigan Torres of Des Moines and freshman Abby Gehringer of Indianola have also earned player of the week honors and sophomore Ashley Sicard of Ackley and freshman Molly Jacobsen of Adel have earned pitcher of the week honors.

Hunter batted .636 in helping the Bears to sweeps of Ellsworth Community College (ECC) and Southwestern Community College (SWCC). She drove in seven runs, scored four runs and recorded a pair of stolen bases. Hunter batted .750 with runners in scoring position.

Hunter is hitting .402 this season with a slugging percentage of .646 and an on-base percentage of .453. She has 51 hits in 127 at-bats, including 13 doubles and six home runs. She has driven in 51 runs.

The DMACC softball team puts its 22-game winning streak on the line today with a doubleheader against Kirkwood Community College (KCC) at the DMACC softball diamond. DMACC, 37-5 overall and 20-0 in the ICCAC, is ranked fifth in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II poll. KCC is first first. The Eagles are 43-2 overall and 19-1 in league play. They have a 17-game winning streak.
