Black Panther

Movie Nights continue in Boone with the showing of Black Panther being provided for students and faculty on Wednesday, March 21. This film follows the politics of Wakanda’s King T’Challa in Marvel’s most recent cinematic installment. The next movie to follow will be the third film featuring Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa in Avengers: Infinity War this May.

Journey to Normal

See the Documentary Journey to Normal: Women of War Come Home and enjoy a free dinner while meeting people from the movie. The documentary follows several female soldiers and works to improve the public’s understanding of the struggles and strengths of women coming home from war. The film’s goal is to provide a better future for the public’s relationship with veterans and the event at Boone’s Campus is intended to help spread the message and begin the conversation in the community. The dinner is at 6pm and the movie is at 7pm on Thursday, March 22.

Almost, Maine

Boone High School’s upcoming show of Almost, Maine takes the stage at 7pm on Friday, March 23 and Saturday, March 24. This play follows a town just within the northern end of Maine’s border and the love lives of the strange residents that live within. This romantic comedy is by John Cariani and the slogan is “It’s Love, but Not Quite.” For admission prices, contact the director at csallen@boone.k12.ia.us.

March For Our Lives

Following the shooting in Florida, many students across the nation have organized marches and protests to raise their voices in regards to gun violence and gun control. One such march is occurring in Des Moines at the Capitol at 2pm on Saturday, March 24. If you would like to express your voice and support, you can find information at March For Our Lives Des Moines on facebook.

NASA @ Boone

Interested in learning about NASA? On Tuesday, March 27, the Ericson Public Library will host NASA@My Library! This partnership is an effort to expand the engineering opportunities here in Boone and inform students about potential careers at NASA. This will be an all day event.

In My Boots 5k

Veterans’ Support group In My Boots will be hosting a 5k for the fifth year in a row at 10am on Saturday, April 14. This 5k is an effort to raise awareness for returning veterans and promote the positive reintegration of soldiers coming home from war. This 5k is available for all members of the community to come and run, walk, and ruck the distance. Registration is open until the race begins.

STEM Festival

Have an interest in Science, Tech, Engineering, or Math? Come to the STEM Festival at 9am on Saturday, April 21 to see what Boone has to offer for the future of our students. Would you rather present something that you think will excite students? That’s even better!
