From all across the state, 26 companies came to Boone DMACC to meet DMACC’s CET students on Wednesday, February 6th, for the DMACC Civil Engineering Technician department’s first ever CET career fair. The four-hour event let interested students meet the companies for possible internships or even full-time employment.

While CET companies have come to campus before, they came one company at a time. This is the inaugural career fair, and it gave students broader opportunities. Former DMACC student Tracey Kingsley said that she thought the career fair was a success, and it gave her the opportunity to hand out her resumes to some of the companies.

CET professor Renee White says this will be an annual event, as having one company at a time costed both money and class time.

“The feedback from our students has been that the career fair was great to show them that there are so many possibilities in this career field.” She said. “Seeing 26 companies trying to recruit our students all at the same time was very exciting.”
