The DMACC Men’s and Women’s basketball teams competed in five total games over the week of 11/29-12/3. Here are the results from the past week.
The DMACC Women’s basketball team was originally supposed to play in their first home game this past Tuesday, November 29, vs Grand View JV. The game would be postponed due to inclement weather, pushing the Bears’ first home game back to the following Thursday, December 1. The Bears competed against Grand View JV on December 1, winning the contest 75- 58. Jensen Archibald led the Bears in scoring with 14 points, Jadyn Smith pitched in 12 points, and Jaiden Ainley helped with 10 points. Camry Jones led the Bears on the boards with 10 total rebounds.
The next competition for the DMACC Women’s basketball team, proved to be a much more difficult task. The Bears traveled to Mason City to take on NIACC in their ICCAC conference opener. The Bears led at the halftime mark 27-21, but the Trojans 49% shooting from the floor propelled them past the Bears halftime lead, and the Bears would fall 65-48. Jaden Ainley scored 20 points in the losing effort.
The DMACC Men’s basketball team went 3-0 over the past week, notching convincing wins against William Penn JV, Marshalltown, and NIACC. The Bears boasted a point differential against those three opponents of +33.7. Like the women’s team, the Bears opened up their conference season vs. NIACC in Mason City. Angelo Winkel led the Bears in scoring with 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the 92-69 win.
