Camry Jones April 4, 2023

April is jam-packed with events and holidays on the Boone Campus! Most of the events are put on by the Student Activities Council, advised by Amanda Strayer. Below are a few of the events the SAC and Boone Campus have planned.

On Tuesday, April 18th, in recognition of Earth week, Dan Lease will return to campus with his reptiles to present his vast experiences with those animals and how they help the planet.

For another celebration of Earth Week, there will be a presentation in the auditorium on Wednesday, April 19th, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. loaded with information and fun facts about Earth.

In the Courter Center will be the Earth Day Fair (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 18 and 20 April 2023). There will be up to 20 exhibits related to the Earth and its environment on display from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

In the Courter Center, on Thursday, April 20th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., DMACC will be celebrating Arbor Day. National Arbor Day is a day to celebrate and bring awareness to the importance of trees and a day to plant trees as well.

One of the campus’s favorite annual events also happens in April–the 9th Annual In My Boots 5K. The race will take place at 10 a.m. on Sat., April 22nd, at McHose Park in Boone, with a Shadow Race to be held simultaneously in Kuwait.

All proceeds from the event will benefit The Titan Project and other programs that support our veterans. A freewill-donation Pancake Breakfast will also be held immediately after the race in Boone.

The last event planned for April is the Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Event. This event will take place on Monday, April 24th at 12:15 p.m. in the Courter Center.

Keep an eye on the Banner Billboard around campus as well as your email to be up to date with current and upcoming events on the DMACC Boone Campus.
