The Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) men’s golf team finished second at the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) Spring Preview on April 8th in Ames, Iowa at the Veenker Memorial Golf Course.
After defeating Kirkwood Community College (KCC) by just a single stroke at the previous Wartburg Spring Invitational, Kirkwood was able to edge out DMACC for the first place finish on the 8th. After beating KCC by just a single stroke in the prior meet, DMACC fell to KCC by just 3 strokes.
DMACC finished with a team total 298 strokes to Kirkwood’s 295.
Kirkwood was lifted by George Kalpakas who won the individual competition, shooting 1 under par. He slightly edged out DMACC’s Louis Psihoyos by 2 strokes for that individual first place finish. Psihoyos finished in a three-way tie for second place.
The 10 golfers from DMACC that competed were: Louis Psihoyas, Dylan Ellis, Kolby Chup, Dylan Scheffler, Noah Hartman, Tyler Wierson, Drew Fielder, Noah Wilkening, Connor Shannon, and Ryan Cole. Psihoyas tied for second, Ellis shot a 74, Chup scored a 75, Hartman and Scheffler both shot 76, Wierson shot 77, Fielder shot 80, Wilkening posted an 81, Shannon scored 83, and Cole finished with an 86.
The Bears will be in action next on April 14 and 15 in Fort Dodge, Iowa at the Iowa Central Spring Invitational.
