The fall season for DMACC Golf has ended for both men’s and women’s teams. Both teams featured a promising fall season and will take the winter off to prepare for the spring.

The men’s team recently competed in the NJCAA Region XI Fall Preview at the Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora. The Bears finished in 6th place overall. Freshman Spencer Clatt led the Bears individually, earning a 4th place individual finish. Sophomore Sam Vertanen finished 12th in the individual competition.

Throughout the season the Bears secured four top-3 finishes, including a 1st place overall win at the Hawkeye Shootout. Spencer Clatt and Sam Vertanen tied for the 1st place medalist honors, both shooting a one-under-par in the 36-hole tournament. The Bears also earned a 2nd-place finish at the Jim Curell invitational in Ames. Spencer Clatt finished 2nd place individually, alongside teammate Sam Vertanen tying for 4th.

The women’s golf team competed in fewer events than the men this fall, but they were able to take advantage of the meets they were scheduled. The Lady Bears finished their fall season with four top-3 finishes, including two 2nd-place finishes, and a 1st-place finish in the Waldorf Challenge. Their two 2nd-place finishes came at the fall opening NIACC Invite, as well as their home meet, the DMACC Invite.

Sophomore Ashley Michel earned medalist honors in three meets this fall season. Those three meets were also the two 2nd-place finishes, and the Lady Bear’s only 1st-place finish of the year. Michel led the Lady Bears in medalist honors this fall, and never finished lower than 6th place.
